Habitat for Humanity ReStores are Really Refreshing Retail

Reader, Rewards await you in ReStores!

ReStores are retail places to find recycled and new items to renovate and remodel your home.

ReStores have remedies to resolve all sorts of repairs and problems. These include regular construction resources, plus they are replete with routine furnishings, hardware and whatever else is received from their donors.

Really, I recommend you visit a ReStore! You will relish a stroll down its aisles. You will be rewarded with a wide range of retail products. Some are new, some renewed, but all are reasonably priced. It is a respite from higher regular retail rates!

Rental managers, contractors and regular folks are routine ReStore customers. “Once they recognize the great values, it is really hard to resist returning here, “replies ReStore manager Lee Weaver when asked. “Regulars return routinely.”

ReStores have been a resounding success in our region. Receipts realized from retail sales are reused to build Habitat residences (in Battle Creek at least two residences per year). Recyclable items (hundreds of tons) are not sent to rubbish. And, people can repair and renovate their homes at reasonable rates. And, with record sales every year, that is something to rejoice about for Habitat for Humanity!

Regionally, there are thirty-three ReStores in Michigan. I recommend that you refer to http://www.habitatmichigan.org/programs/restores/ and review the roster to recognize one near you.

If you regard this article with interest, come in to the ReStore in Battle Creek, located at 551 W. Michigan Ave. and receive a 10% discount on your purchases by telling our Cashier how many “RE’s” you counted in this repetitive article. This remarkable offer is good only for the remainder of September.

(Definitely don’t get me in a discussion about deconstruction. This is where donors who discard items in their house invite Habitat to dismantle them and dispatch them directly to the ReStore. Sometimes they want us to demolish the building and donate the usable debris! At tax time, they even deduct their donations. But, that is for a different day.)

Respectfully,

Lynn Schmoll
Battle Creek Area Habitat for Humanity Board President
